How it works
As a non-US citizen, should you require a mortgage you will need to put down a minimum of 20%. Generally the 20% is not needed in one lump payment, but is staggered over the build period. In addition, you will have closing costs; these are legal fees associated with a house purchase along with property taxes, etc. which in the US you must pay separately, and not have added to a mortgage. Generally these are approximately 3% to 4% of the purchase price.

Unlike estate agents in the UK who act as middle me between vendor and buyer, our realtors remit is to guard only your interests, even though they are paid by the builders! So our realtors fees are free to you, the buyer.
